It only takes a short trip to get from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, to Syabrubesi. We’ll be driving for around seven hours. Along the trip, you’ll travel by old hamlets, valleys, and subtropical forests. You will travel downhill, passing through streams of water and steep hills. After a few more comparable descents and climbs, the trail leads to the Lama Hotel. The motel is bordered by birch trees and situated within terrace farms.

To go to Kyanjin Ri, you will start your hike from Lama Hotel. The trip is going to be steep and will go through a variety of meadows and deep woodlands. Once you reach the small river valley at Ghoda Tabela, the pathways become wider. The route passes through Chyamki Village, a wonderful location for tourists.

You will pass by ancient Chortens, mani walls, and prayer wheels on your trek forward. It also provides an excellent cultural and educational experience. Walking along the Lantang village will take you by a number of these hamlets as well as locations housing water mills. A Tamang hamlet, Lantang village is their ancestral home.

The Langtang Valley is home to numerous renowned lodges and tea houses. In addition to these trekker-friendly establishments, the area is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in Tibetan culture. This is the location of Tibetan monasteries and chortens. From here, you can hike a little farther to reach routes that cross several tiny plateaus with yak farms.

As you leave Langtang Village behind, you will get closer to Kyanjin Ri. The trail leads to several isolated hamlets with prayer wheels and holy rocks. After a few strenuous hikes, Kyanjin Gompa will be your next stop. It may take some time for you to become used to the climate here.

The closest location to Kyangjin Ri is the Kyanjin Gompa, which offers breathtaking views. Views of the valleys are visible, as are the towering mountain peaks. This settlement serves as a place to eat, stay, and acclimate before beginning the Langtang Valley trip. Before traveling to Kyangjin Ri, our goal and the highest point, you are welcome to stay here to unwind and get used to the altitude. The hike up Kyanjin Ri will be an unbroken climb. Permits needed to reach Kyanjin Ri

To access Kyanjin Ri, two licenses are required. You will require an admission permission to Lantang National Park because the trek to Kyanjin Ri passes through the Langtang Valley zone. Likewise, the Trekker’s Information Management System Permit (TIMS) is also required. In Nepal, the TIMS permit is required for all kinds of extended hikes.

Best time to trek to Kyanjin Ri

Trekking in the Langtang Valley region is most enjoyable from March to April and from October to November. These months fall in the autumnal and spring seasons, respectively. This time of year is ideal for hiking because the trails won’t be muddy or slick. There will be less volatility in the weather and a mild temperature. Also, during these months you will be treated to breathtaking views of unobstructed landscapes under azure skies. However, as this is the busiest trekking season, the paths will be packed with hikers.

You can go on your treks in the winter and during the monsoon. Nepal’s monsoon season, which lasts from June through August (or September), produces a lot of rain. This compensates for being an extremely dangerous time to hike because the trails become slick, raising the possibility of mishaps. In a similar vein, the chilly weather that arrives in mid-December to early January makes trekking extremely difficult. There is a lot of luggage you should bring, and the weather is unpredictable. However, hikes in the off-season may still be feasible with the right planning and precautions.
